The Project
The first phase of a substantial redevelopment programme at St Sepulchre's, to establish it as the National Musicians' Church, is currently nearing completion. Thanks to a generous grant from the City Churches Grants Committee, phase 1 of the work involves:
- replacing the current (noisy) hot air heating system with a new constant-temperature radiator system, which will be silent in operation
- adding additional male and female WC facilities at the west end of the church
- adding new office space in the north west corner of the church, to compliment the existing meeting room
- some re-ordering of the east end to restore the altar, choir stalls and pulpits to their pre-1932 positions, creating a larger usable space in the main body of the church for concerts and recitals and a more intimate space for smaller services
The second phase, planned for 2011/12, will include a complete internal redecoration of the building and re-ordering the north east corner to provide further facilities.
